Handicap Accessibility
Messiah Choral Society (MCS) recognizes that due to the huge popularity of our performance and the eager anticipation with which many of our regular patrons await our concert each year, there is usually a large crowd standing at the front door long before the 2:15 PM door opening. We also know that there are some who want to see our presentation but, due to a handicap or other poor health condition, are unable to stand with the others for extended periods. For this reason MCS is commencing a pilot program whereby we allow a limited number of those able to demonstrate a legitimate inability to stand with the general public at the front door, to enter the auditorium prior to 2:15 PM through a special, controlled entrance. At this time, this program is targeting Nursing and Assisted Living facilities. These facilities must be able to provide their own single-vehicle transportation which is outfitted with any necessary handicap accessories, such as a wheelchair lift. MCS’s policy on this initiative is printed below for your careful review. If you feel you meet the criteria of our policy and wish to apply for early entry, please download the Request form, complete and submit it electronically for review. Those that are approved for this year’s performance will be notified electronically with the details of their early admittance privilege. Those that are not approved are asked to enter with the others. MCS may expand or abandon this policy at any time based on its effectiveness. Thanks for your cooperation in this matter and enjoy Messiah Choral Society’s Presentation of Handel’s Messiah! IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE A CALL BACK WITHIN ONE DAY AFTER YOU SEND YOUR FORM, PLEASE SEND AN EMAIL TO: publicity@messiahchoralsociety.org.
Messiah Choral Society (MCS) policy for early admittance:
It is MCS’s desire that everyone who wishes to enjoy our performance of Handel’s Messiah be able to do so. We recognize that because we offer our concert as a no-charge gift to the music loving public, many of our regular patrons arrive well in advance of the 2:15 PM door opening to get the best seats. We also know that there are some who wish to enjoy our presentation but, for health reasons, are unable to stand with the others at the front doors for this extended period. This policy is intended to accommodate these individuals. If you are able to safely stand with the others at the front door please do not abuse our attempts to accommodate those who cannot. If on the other hand you want to hear Handel’s Messiah but are unable to bear the rigors of standing at the front door for legitimate handicap or health reasons, we would like to invite you, and your necessary health care aide (if applicable), to be our early guest. Your understanding and cooperation with this policy is appreciated. Enjoy the concert!
